BimmerTimes spotted what appears to be three Cadillac XTS-V Line road testing on  one of the back roads in Detroit. An interesting turn around for Cadillac after denying just a few  months ago that a performance model would be in the works. All three cars were equipped with a big brake kit, similar to that found on the CTS-V. The calipers are painted black with prominent large white Cadillac decals with a small Brembo logo in the center.

Performance-V models are usually differentiated from the base models by subtle design ques that include alternate wheels, brakes, grill, fender vents, but not much else. Therefore, making an XTS-V, as seen in the video, does not require major design changes. Similarly to what Audi does with their “S” badged cars, BMW with their new “M Performance” models, and Lexus with their F-Sport line (minus the performance of true F’s).

Cadillac will seek to place the XTS-V in the same league as the Audi S8, Lexus LS460 F Sport, or similar European and Japanese competitors. This move should pave the road for GM to create a true flagship for its luxury brand in the following years that it  genuinely needs.

Would you consider an XTS-V instead of other offerings from Europe and Japan?
