Today we spotted the next generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class testing in Southern California, Los Angeles County to be exact. Benz engineers used heavy camouflage to divert attention from the design lines of this luxury flagship. Mind you that a spy photographer caught a glimpse of the S-class naked revealing all of its design details a week ago in Europe. Not sure if that was setup by the MB to create a buzz, as the spy photos were too close up and revealing to be spy shots.
One this for certain, the next S Class, specifically the 2014 S550 will be the standard S model to be sold in the USA. The S Class has been the standard for full-size luxury vehicles for years. It will compete directly for sales with the BMW 750Li, the Audi A8L, and the Lexus LS460L. Engine choices would most likely be the currently available 429 hp 4.7-liter twin turbo V8, with optional 4-matic all wheel drive. A host of AMG models will be offered, including a TT V8 S63 and a TT V12 S65. Not to mention the more fuel efficient models, like a hybrid variant and the possibility of a turbo diesel engine maybe in the works.
