Once again the 3 Series Sports Wagon is making its way onto the US market. The wagon gained a bit of size just like the F30 3 Series Sedan it’s based on. The front wheels sit almost 1 ½ inches wider as the rear wheels sit 1.85 inches wider than before. While the wheel base has stretched almost 2 inches longer than the previous gen E91 Sports wagon. Handling, ride quality, as well as storage volume will benefit greatly from the changes.
The car will be offered in three trims, just like the sedan, Sport Line, Luxury Line, Modern Line, and an all out M Sport Line,
Exterior Design:
Just like the sedan, the wagon’s kidney grill design lends a unique and demanding appeal. It adds to the car’s sporty character as the lines flow smoothly onto the hood.
Powerfully drawn surfaces alongside sweeping traces command the side-view Sports Wagon, stretching the car visually and granting additional vitality to its dynamic posture. Not to mention one of the best rear ends of any wagons in recent memory. A must have option is the panoramic glass roof that spans over most of the roof to give occupants a scenic view of the sky.
Interior Flexibility:
The 3 Series Sports Wagon provides an impressive level of flexibility starting with a pair of coat hangers, to floor mounted tie down straps. Nets and straps are available to keep your groceries from being smashed around as you zip around curvy roads at higher than average speeds.
The back seats can be folded down into a 40:20:40 split. Four occupants are able to fit together while carrying skis at the same time. The new wagon offers flexible utility with the integration of smart stowage features in the rear cargo area. It doesn’t stop at the interior. On the outside, the wagon offers great utility with the available roof rails that make year round outdoor activities possible.
Expect the BMW 3 Series Sport Wagon to pack all of the latest infotainment and safety features that is available in the much loved sedan. That includes, but not limited to, BMW Connect Drive, color Head Up display, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, rear view camera with bird eyes view, and BMW park assistant.
Release Date:
The new BMW 3 Series Sports Wagon will launch in Europe later this year and is set to arrive in US showrooms in the spring of 2013. Engine and transmission choices along with pricing, standard, and optional equipment will be announced closer to the release date.
